The Airsoft Force on Force training we conducted at the 2009 Polite Society conference was featured this month in two print magazines: October 2009 Gun World (D.K. Pridgen's Tactical Gear Column) and the October 2009 Concealed Carry magazine (article by Dr. Glenn Meyer, photo by Tom Hogel). Registration for the 2010 Polite Society Conference is open. http://www.rangemaster.com/newsletter/2009-10_RM-Newsletter.pdf for details.

There are two new websites important to NRA instructors:
http://www.nrablog.com -- latest news from the Training Department
http://www.NRAInstructors.org -- is required for NRA certified Instructors to register and advertise courses, as well as report training to NRA.

Includes useful statistics on common causes for accidents and historical data showing how mandatory Hunter Safety training has produced a significant drop in hunting accidents. Should be read by all Texas hunters.
This press release summarizes changes to CHL and driving laws that went into effect Sept 1. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/director_staff/public_information/pr081109.pdf
Key changes:

HB 55 makes it illegal to use a wireless communication device in a school zone unless the vehicle is stopped or a hands-free device is used.
HB 2730 removes DPS authority to suspend a concealed handgun license (CHL) for the holder’s failure to display the CHL to a peace officer on demand.
SB 1188 authorizes a Texas resident to buy firearms, ammunition or firearms accessories in any other state, not just those contiguous to Texas, to reflect updated federal statutes.

When you receive forwarded emails from others regarding proposed gun legislation or other gun-related topics, please check the accuracy of those emails (by checking the NRA and/or Texas State Rifle Association sites) before mass-forwarding them to others. Two emails that I continue to receive on a regular basis:
1) SB 2099. This is a hoax. There is NO Senate Bill 2099 that will require gun owners to register all guns on their tax returns. NRA has gotten so many questions about this hoax email that they have issued an official release about it. Check the NRA ILA site for details. http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=5098
2) USA Today poll on gun ownership. USA today ran an online poll back in 2007, and people continue to forward the voting link to others. Online poll results are meaningless, and that particular poll closed 2 years ago.
These are the not the only two 'junk' emails in circulation, but these are the most common. I have been getting copies of those two emails weekly for months.
