Beyond the Basics: Rifle tomorrow from 2-5. A few slots still open. If you are one of those people who keep asking for AR classes, this is for you. This will be the only long gun/AR class we offer this summer.
AT-2A Home Defense Tactics scheduled for Wednesday, June 23, 7-10 pm. This class is "red gun and flashlight" skills in an actual residence (in Bee Caves). Learn how to do a security assessment of your home from the viewpoint of a burglar. Practice building search and movement skills in low light. Can't make this session? Host it at your home and get the class for free.
AT-6: Pistol Workout is back on July 10.
Our new Team Tactics course debuts on July 17. Come with your spouse, an armed friend, or sign up "solo" and work with another student. This course will include drills for handgun/handgun teams, handgun/long gun teams, and armed/unarmed teams. Includes both live fire drills on the range and 'red gun' work indoors and around vehicles.

Start times for all August classes are moved up 1 hour (8 am start for morning classes) to beat the August heat.

The SABRE company now offers a civilian pepper spray instructor training course. The one day course is $300 per student. Certification lasts for 2 years and entitles the instructor to purchase SABRE products at a discounted rate. Instructor trainers are NOT required to be sprayed as part of the course. We are considering hosting this course in fall 2010. Contact me if you are interested.

Photos and fingerprints are no longer required for Texas CHL renewal. Multiple cars were broken into during this past week's CHL Instructor training course taught by DPS, during the classroom phase of the course at a hotel near I-35 and 183. One gun was stolen out of an instructor-trainee's car.

Due to continued violations of club policies, those that are caught violating ARC range rules now face immediate termination of club membership. The policies are in place to ensure that rounds fired stay inside the ARC property, and that range equipment is not destroyed. If you are an ARC member please use their range responsibly and keep an eye out for those that are violating club rules.
Texas State Rifle Assocation lobbyist Alice Tripp will be the special guest speaker at the June 17 general membership meeting . It begins at 7:00 PM in the education building at the ARC range.

His student survived because he recognized the right moment to take action, was armed, and was able to draw and fire quickly from concealment. If you haven't done any dry practice at home drawing from concealment recently, this should be motivation to do it - even if you've never done dry practice at home before. Dry practice is free, and is perfectly safe to do with all modern defensive handguns.
