EXTREME CLOSE QUARTERS CONCEPTS

On Feb 19-21 we are hosting Craig Douglas (aka "Southnarc") for his excellent Extreme Close Quarters Concepts class. ECQC is a two and a half day (20 hours) block of instruction which focuses on a multi-disciplinary approach to building functional, combative handgun skills at zero to five feet. It includes lecture content on "managing unknown contacts", live fire range work, unarmed skills training, and force on force training using FIST suit helmets and Simunition training pistols. The class runs from 6-10 pm Friday evening, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Tuition is $500.

The best way to learn about the ECQC course is look at any of the dozens of YouTube videos online showing some of the class material.

There is no other course like it in the training industry. It is a physically and psychologically stressful class that simulates the speed, intensity and stress of an actual confrontation better than any other course I've ever taken or taught. It's suitable for graduates of our Defensive Pistol Skills 1 class, or any other course where drawing from a holster is taught. It should be considered 'essential' for anyone truly serious about being well prepared for real world self-defense.

There are limited slots still available in this very special course. Register here.

BEGINNER AND LICENSE TO CARRY CLASSES

Our Basic Pistol 1 class is for new shooters and includes the opportunity to try 6-10 different guns, to aid the student in learning about action types, caliber, gun fit and other factors important in gun selection.

Our Defensive Long Gun Essentials class can be taken with a rifle, shotgun, or pistol caliber carbine. It teaches the skills essential to defending a home or other facility with a long gun. This course is suitable for people with no prior formal firearms training but is also useful to experienced shooters seeking realistic defensive practice (shooting from cover, shooting with realistic time limits/speeds).

Paul Martin and Tina Maldonado are now offering Texas License to Carry courses through KR Training.

DEFENSIVE PISTOL SKILLS 3

Defensive Pistol Skills 3 completes the 3 course Defensive Pistol series. Students taking all 3 courses receive training equivalent to the NRA's Personal Protection Outside the Home course, and students attending DPS-3 get a copy of the NRA PPOTH book as part of the course materials. This course is best for graduates of both DPS-1 and DPS-2, but graduates of DPS-1 that have not taken DPS-2 can still attend. We only offer this course once a year, so we strongly recommend graduates of DPS-1 and DPS-2 take advantage of this opportunity.

HANDGUNNING BEYOND THE BASICS & COMPETITION PISTOL 1

On March 26th we will offer the Handgunning Beyond the Basics and Competition Pistol 1 courses. The Handgunning Beyond the Basics courses teaches skills not covered in our other courses, focusing on increasing speed on close targets and improving accuracy on longer range targets. It's suitable for anyone that's taken any of our other classes that wants more knowledge about handgun shooting techniques. The BTB course is particularly relevant to those getting started in competition.

The Competition Pistol 1 course teaches skills mandatory for competition (a safe, fast draw and reload), and explains the rules and range procedures of the most common types of matches offered in our area, including USPSA/IPSC, IDPA, Steel Challenge, and Falling Steel. The class includes a 4 stage sample match including one stage from each type of competition. This is a great introduction to the local shooting sports and a good foundation-builder for those that have shot a few matches and want to do better.

The courses are scheduled back to back on purpose. We strongly encourage everyone taking Competition Pistol 1 to also take the Beyond the Basics course, as the two courses are really parts 1 and 2 of a full day program.
