AT-2A: Home Defense Tactics

Course Description: This course deals with self defense while at home and in darkness. This class will be conducted with non-firing dummy guns in a residence, and students will participate in roleplaying exercises simulating various threats including some in low light conditions.

Topics: assessing your home's exterior to identify likely entry points for intruders, exterior and interior modifications to deter intruders, alarm systems and other methods for automatic intruder alert, home defense equipment (flashlights, firearms and other tools), tactics for dealing with home intruders (including building search skills), use of light (home and flashlight) for tactical advantage, and techniques for using both flashlight and firearm for home defense.

Prerequisites: Recommended: Basic Pistol 2, Texas LTC or instructor approval.

Required Equipment: flashlight, pen and paper.

Optional Equipment: A 'red gun' of the same make/model as the student's primary carry handgun. See the general policies page for suggestions on food, drink, clothing, etc.
